Send a Letter to President Clinton
Regarding Presumptive Status
For Cancers Caused by
Ionizing Radiation

Your help is needed to apply pressure to Togo West, VA (Veteran Affairs) Secretary, to declare known diseases caused by ionizing radiation, such as prostate, colon, lung and brain cancer, as presumptive.

One way to do this is to write the President of the United States, like the Honorable Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, Ranking Minority Member and Oscar Rosen, Ph.D., president, Atomic Veterans Radiation Research Institute did (see links at bottom of page).

This can be done in three ways:

  • U.S. Mail
  • Fax
  • E-Mail

If you are not experienced
with computers, click here.

For the computer experienced, here is the contact information you will need to send President Clinton a copy of Dr. Rosen's LETTER (this will open up a separate window in your browser. Close it out when you are finished). Be sure to make any changes necessary to the letter, place the date at the top, and put your name and physical address at the bottom.

Be sure to read through these instructions very carefully before you proceed. You might even print this page so you can use it as a reference.

E-Mail

To send a letter to the president via e-mail, follow the steps described below. Incidently, you may wish to print this page out as an additional help.

  1. When you are ready to begin, you will click HERE to view a blank copy of Dr. Rosen's letter to President Clinton. This will open up an entirely different window in your browser, enabling you to move back and forth between this and the target letter.
  2. Once the page has loaded, click on FILE at the top left of your browser.
  3. Place your cursor over the SEND selection. This will open up a small window along side of the cursor.
  4. Click on the "PAGE BY E-MAIL" selection. This will activate your e-mail program, such as Microsoft Outlook.

Note: Some e-mail programs will not print the letter out in the e-mail window but they attach it as a file to the message. If this is the case, then you should close out your e-mail window and take another approach. In that case, follow the steps outlined immediately below:

    • On the browser window with Dr. Rosen's blank letter, click on the EDIT selection on the top tool bar.
    • Click on the SELECT ALL. This will highlight the entire page.
    • With the entire page highlighted, hold down the CTL (Control) button and press the C key. This will copy the highlighted letter to the clipboard in your computer.
    • With the blank letter copied to your clipboard, now click on the following mail link: president@whitehouse.gov. This will automatically bring up a blank mail window with his e-mail address in it.
    • Place the cursor on the top line of the main message window, hold down the CTL (Control) key and press the V key. This will place the entire blank letter in the main body of the message you are about to send.

  5. If you wish to modify the letter to suit your preference, do so at this time.
  6. Be sure to place the date at the top, in place of DATE HERE.
  7. Be sure to place your name and physical address at the bottom of the letter in place of YOUR NAME HERE.
  8. Hit the SEND key

You can go to the White House e-mail form on the White House web site at http://www.whitehouse.gov/WH/Mail/html/Mail_President.html. This will open up a new window in your browser, allowing you to return to this page. Just close out any remaining windows when you are done.
